In his remarks today, Donald Trump called for a new civil rights agenda that includes the right to a safe community, the right to a great education and the right to a secure job. These civil rights are in addition to the fundamental, constitutional civil rights of our society and the absolute commitment to equal protection, ending discrimination and safeguarding the dignity of all citizens - and that includes their inviolable freedoms and liberties. Mr. Trump will also defend our religious freedoms, and the freedom of Americans from all communities to worship in peace.” – Pastor Darrell Scott. More detail will continue to be shared on these items in the coming days. Below is more detail on these points and links to previously-released policy papers and speeches on a number of the items.

Donald Trump made a brief stop Saturday in fellow Republican Ben Carson's boyhood neighborhood in southwest Detroit where he chatted with residents. “I met Mr. Trump and shook his hand,” Felicia Reese said outside her home on South Deacon. “And he told me that the house looked nice.” Reese lives in the 1800 block of South Deacon, near I-75 and Schaefer Highway, in Carson's former boyhood home and said Trump took some pictures during the brief visit. “We were polite. We were cordial. He’s a guest of the city of Detroit,” Reese said, adding “Dr. Carson is a native son of our neighborhood and of this house, and he’s always welcome.” Carson was also with the Trump at Great Faith Ministries International church in Detroit earlier in the day and hung around his old neighborhood after Trump left.

Donald Trump tells the American Legion in Cincinnati, Ohio that he will promote American patriotism and strength if he’s elected President of the United States. “The men and women of the American Legion represent the best of America. Strength, courage, selfless devotion. Your organization, and its members, have done so much to defend our country, our flag, and to advance the cause of Americanism – not Globalism,” Trump began. “We are in your debt. I will never let you down.” The Republican nominee stressed promoting American pride and patriotism in schools. “We want our kids to learn the incredible achievement of America’s history,” he explained. “We want young Americans to recite the pledge of allegiance.” He said his goal as president is for the country to become united as “one American nation.”

Donald Trump met Saturday with his newly formed Hispanic advisory board, part of a new effort by the Republican presidential nominee and his new-look campaign team to win at least some support from minority voters as the White House race enters its final stages. Trump has also made efforts to try to appeal more to black voters, whom he argues should support his campaign after years of reliably supporting Democrats. However, Democratic politicians have had the black vote for decades, and this year’s election appears to be no different. Clinton overwhelmingly won the black vote in South Carolina early in the Democratic primary season and continued to win it in other Southern states.

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump arrived in Baton Rouge, Louisiana Friday morning to tour the flood damaged state where at least 13 have been killed and 30,000 have been forced to leave their homes. Mainstream media outlets, which were harshly critical of President George W. Bush’s handling of the 2005 Katrina flooding of New Orleans, have refused to criticize President Obama’s failure to leave his Martha’s Vineyard vacation to visit Louisiana. On Thursday, Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson explained that President Obama was not going to interrupt his Martha’s Vineyard vacation to visit Louisiana because “he has a very busy schedule.” That schedule on Thursday included a round of golf with television star Larry David and Bain Capital co-managing director Jonathan Lavine. Hillary Clinton has offered no public comment on the Louisiana flooding.

Trump said, “I think President Obama has been the most ignorant president in our history. His views of the world as he says don’t jive and the world is a mess." Trump said. "He will go down as one of the worst presidents in the history of our country. It is a mess. And I believe that Hillary Clinton will be even worse" while commenting on a possible Russian connection to the DNC email hack “Russia, if you’re listening, I hope you’re able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing,” Trump said. “I think you will probably be rewarded mightily by our press.”

Thanking his volunteers in Cleveland a day after the Republican National Convention wrapped, presidential nominee Donald Trump today slammed Ted Cruz's Wednesday night speech and said he “will not accept” if the Texas senator ever decides to endorse him. "Ted, just stay home, relax, enjoy yourself," Trump said. "Honestly, he may have ruined his political career. I feel so badly," Trump said. "Because I like Ted, he's fine. Again, don't want his endorsement," Trump said. "If he gives it, I will not accept it, just so you understand.”
